The Armor of Light

Dear friends, the Lord is raising up an army of light, clothed in the armor of light! It is time to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and be clothed in His light. Romans 13:11-14 is a word for this time, right now.

Put on the armor of light (Rom. 13:12)

ROMANS 13:11-14

  1. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

  2. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

  3. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.

  4. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

The night is far spent — the enemy’s time is coming to a close. And the day is at hand — the day of the Lord Jesus Christ is near. He is returning to a body that is full of Him, mature, even to “the measure and stature of the of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). In John 17:22 Jesus prays that the glory the Father gave Him would also be in us, which is to be filled with God — the light of God, Jesus Christ Himself — to be clothed in Him. And in both verse 21 and 23 Jesus Himself prays that we would be one with Him. This oneness with Jesus is where the armor of light comes from. The armor of light is righteousness, peace, and joy in Him, even in the midst of deep darkness.

If we fill our minds with the world’s news media and the cares and worries of the world, it can distract us from the reality of the kingdom of God within us that is filled with the light of Jesus Christ. Although the world’s systems and those in the world are getting darker and darker, this is the church’s finest hour, shining brighter and brighter until the perfect day (Prov. 4:18), the Day of the Lord! This is what is spoken about in Isaiah 60:1-3.

Isaiah 60:1-3

  1. Arise, shine; For your light has come!

And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

  2. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.

  3. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

It is time to arise and shine — the light of Jesus Christ has come within us, and we must make no provision for the flesh (Rom. 13:14) so that we can be fully engulfed in the light of Jesus and exude it to all those around us.

These are not times to fear, but instead this is a time to be encouraged, to “be strengthened with might through His Spirit in (your) inner man” (Eph. 3:16).

This is a season to turn off the entertainment and iPhones and media and tune into the Lord, to set our minds on what the Spirit is doing, because “to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace” (Rom. 8:6 ESV).

May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus! (Phil. 4:6). In Him we live and move and have our being (Acts. 17:28), so put on the ARMOR OF LIGHT! Be clothed in Him, Christ Jesus!
